A LIVING FANTASY

Perfect faces, imperfect worlds,
Little white girl with long black curls,
I see scenes that amuse me,
Every day, a living fantasy.

Beggar man with a half-buck bowl,
His stray dog in a mournful howl,
Ragged old hag selling the news,
A word too many that you can't use,
Holding hands on lovers' lane,
Each bound in, by his or her pain,
Single mother, broken toy,
A baby's smile brings endless joy,
I see scenes that amuse me,
Every day, a living fantasy.

Light at the end of a long, dark road,
Or the glinting edge of your killer's sword,
They say to the world, here we come,
Tomorrow's heroes are today's scum,
So many out on the midnight streets,
Dragging on life with tired feet,
Big man in a long, sleek car,
Wondering what love and happiness are,
I see scenes that amuse me,
Every day, a living fantasy.

Each believes that he'll never die,
When people do, they wonder why,
One man to do and one man to see,
That is the reason I came to be,
I see scenes that amuse me,
Every day, a living fantasy.
